My passion with Afghan hounds started in 1980, after I saw an old 1955 home movie called “Kismet”.

I had to have one of those dogs. Had no idea what breed they were…

I received my 1st Afghan Hound, a black-masked gold, Sheeba in 1981 for my birthday. Thinking back now, at this time of my journey, how shocking and irresponsible the breeder acted. I was a new owner, didn’t know the breed and she couldn’t get us away fast enough. I didn’t know they are roamers, didn’t know they like to run and hunt. didn’t know anything about grooming….boy, was I in for a surprise! She was stolen/ran away from the veterinary clinic at 6 months.

My 2nd Afghan was an adult self-masked silver girl, BiBi. I adopted her from a SPCA. She was my heart dog, my baby boy’s protector and my shadow. I lost her to old age in 1989. Never found out how old she was. I just couldn’t think of owning another afghan hound.

My journey begins….

In 2014, I send a message to the SA Afghan Association. Just a query of possible breeders and maybe a puppy in the future. I got no response for 4 – 5 months.  Clair van den Bergh of Scaramouche Afghan hounds answered my message…. she has puppies.

First she offered a brindle girl, I wanted a white or gold. A few days later she called back. She has a self-masked gold boy….

we named him Talus. He rescued me. I had to rescue him back when he developed separation anxiety….So, in January 2015 I flew to Germany to fetch Talus his French mate, Jami… my beautiful precious self-masked white girl form Patricia Salor’s D’El Ryad de la Haute Source kennels in France.

In September 2017, I returned to Patricia in France and brought back Naïla, my blue oyster brindle girl.

I was blessed with a beautiful litter of 9 puppies from Talus X Jami, in January 2018. I kept a self-masked cream girl, Ashling.

In June 2019, I was once again blessed with another beautiful litter from Talus X Jami of 11 puppies. I kept a self-masked cream boy, Blaine.

I added little Blaine to my pack… he slipped and took a dive off the balcony when he was just 3 months old, one rainy day at the sea. He broke his right knee and had to have 2 screws inserted…took 6 weeks to heal, had the screws removed and I am so glad I kept him.. what a beautiful boy.

Jami suddenly passed away in October 2019.

She had an undiagnosed abdominal aneurysm.
My heart shattered, but she left a legacy behind in her offsprings and very big shoes to fill..

And so my journey continues…

I am blessed with another remarkable litter of 10, from Talus X Naïla in August 2020.

On the 1st of August 2020, I added beautiful Pink to my pack of hounds. Never thought I will absolutely love a black Afghan hound…thank you Clair for trusting me with your Pink. I will love her forever.

Pink

And so I continue with my journey… I am blessed with a singleton litter – a beautiful brindle boy!

I had to re-home my beautiful Pink…. Girls were fighting on a daily basis – too many dominant girls in 1 house. So, I found her a fantastic forever home with Andre du Toit. She is the matriarch in the house and rules over everyone.

On 12/09/2021, I had to say goodbye to my heart dog Talus. My heart shattered, I felt my heart broke. I mourn him every day. But he left one hell of a legacy ..42 absolutely beautiful puppies.

E-Litter

I was blessed with a litter of 6 gorgeous puppies on 24/09/2021 from

Murchú Ashling Uasal and Abissal Boomerang of Chantichakti (IMP Russia)

And, so life goes on….

I decided to keep one of the boys form E-Litter, Little… or I suppose I should say, Big James. He is the tallest of the lot! But, I swear, I think he is the naughtiest of any puppy I have bred or owned. Ever!
